Q:

Dear Venerable,

I know nothing about Dhamma. I only finished primary school. Can you summarise Dhamma for me at my level?

A:

If you finished primary school you must know the basic mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. What needs to add, you add. What needs to take away, you take away. What needs to multiply, you multiply. What needs to divide, you divide.

- Possessions you need to divide and share with others.

- Good deeds you need to multiply.

- Good people, you add to your circle.

- Bad people, you take them away from your circle.

If you know how to do these basic maths, you know how to balance, to count and to measure, then you make it as a human.

Other lowly existents do not know how or when to add and subtract, to multiply and divide, to measure and count, to balance and choose. They don't know what is right and what is wrong.
