Buddhism is so good but why is it so hard to achieve enlightenment?

The answer is in the difference between saints and laymen.

Saints see clearly what they believe, so they firmly believe what they see, thus can live truly with what they see and believe.

Laymen don't really believe what they know, and don't really know what they believe and so cannot live their lives fully to the path.

One can travel to temples in Myanmar, attend Kathina festivals, print scriptures, sculp or donate statues for pagodas, etc ... but otherwise lives a pointless life, only because of wobbly theological knowledge, leading to wobbly belief.

One must truly wholly believe in the teaching. The belief has to be strong in one's blood, one's bones, one's heart. Only then can one truly know what one believes, and truly believe what one knows. That's the only way to live fully to the path.

There lies the difference.
