Can a lay Buddhist follower worship a Buddhist relic (Śarīra) on his own shrine?

With a proper private room or a room on the top floor, anyone and worship a relic. The problem is genuine relics are unlikely to be within our reach. Also there are problems with having a relic within your home. One, you may find some hindrance to your personal business out of respect to the relic.
